20th Meeting of States parties & 2025 elections, Committee Against Torture (CAT) - Morning Session.

 

States parties elect members to replace the five current members whose terms expire on 31 December 2025.

The Committee against Torture is composed of 10 independent experts who are persons of high moral standing and recognized competence in the field of human rights. Members are elected for a term of four years by States parties in accordance with article 17 of the Convention against Torture. Members serve in their personal capacity and may be re-elected if renominated.
